Mohamed Hashish
Mohamed Hashish, Corporate and Banking Lawyer is the Founding and Managing Partner of Soliman, Hashish & Partners. He has over 21 years of experience advising multinational corporations, regional groups, financial institutions, and sovereign investors on complex transactions and strategic projects in Egypt and across the MENA region.
His practice focuses on corporate and commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, projects, and technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), with particular strength in high-value, multi-jurisdictional transactions. He regularly acts as lead partner and local Egyptian counsel on cross-border mandates, coordinating closely with international law firms on complex and time-sensitive matters.
Prior to establishing Soliman, Hashish & Partners in 2014, Mohamed built a strong institutional foundation through senior roles in both private practice and in-house legal positions within multinational and regional groups. This experience provided him with a deep understanding of international client expectations, governance standards, regulatory risk, and commercially driven legal solutions.
Hashish received 19 international awards from Legal 500, IFLR 100, Chambers and Thomson Reuters as a recognized and awarded leading lawyer in Egypt. Hashish is also a member of both the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, the Forbes Business Council and Arab Young Leaders, where he shares his insights and network with other influential business leaders.
Hashish has also served in several prestigious leadership positions, such as (i) Vice Chair of the International Finance & Securities Committee of the International Law Section at the American Bar Association, (ii) Vice Chair of the Cyber Security, Data Privacy and Technology Committee of the International Association of Defense Counsels; and (iii) Board member and Secretary-General of the United Nations Global Compact in Egypt.
Hashish has been acting as Beachhead Advisor for Egypt since 2016 at the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise to support New Zealand companies in expanding their presence and opportunities in Egypt.
He is also currently serving as Vice-Chair at the International Investment Committee of the American Bar Association, Board member of Entrepreneur’s Organization Dubai and Editor of the African Forum of the International Bar Association.
Mohamed leads Corporate, M&A, Antitrust, Banking & Finance, Projects and TMT practices and oversees governance, partner structure, and international strategy. Acts as relationship partner on multinational and cross-border mandates and regularly coordinates with international law firms.

- Acted as Legal counsel to Evergreen Marine Corp., in acquiring 20% stake in Abu Qir Container Terminal Company SAE (AQCT), the developer and operator of one of Abu Qir Sea Ports, which is the largest sea ports in Egypt, for approximately USD 46 million.
- Acted as legal counsel to VSI LONDON with respect to the acquisition of 100% of the share capital in a major production companies in Egypt.
- Acted as Legal Counsel in Egypt to Luxshare Precision Limited with respect to the acquisition of Automotive Cable Solutions (ACS) division from LEONI AG for EUR 525.41 million.
- Legal counsel in Egypt to both Corvinus and Magyar Vagon, the Hungarian-state owned companies, with respect to the acquisition of 100% of the share capital in Talgo S.A for approximately EUR 619 million.
- Acted as Legal counsel in Egypt to Ravago S.A. in connection with the acquisition of Emeraude 3.0.
- Acted as Legal counsel in Egypt to General Electric with respect to the sale of its transport business by WABTEC.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) with respect to the sale of its entire stake in CSC Computer Sciences Egypt to CSRA Consular Services Holding LLC.
- Acted as legal counsel to Alameda International For Medical Services with respect to the acquisition of the entire shares owned by INTERNATIONAL FINANCE CORPORATION in Dar Al Fouad Hospital. It is worth noting that Dar Al Fouad Hospital is the largest hospital in Egypt that is operated in association with CLEVELAND CLINIC.
- Acted as legal counsel in Egypt to Polimeros Mexicanos with respect to the acquisition of two of the leading ROTOMOULDING COMPANIES operated in the Free Zone in Borg Al Arab Egypt.
- Acted as Legal counsel in Egypt to Emerging Markets Property Group (EMPG) with respect to its merger with OLX Group
- Acted as Legal counsel in Egypt to ORANGE on the acquisition of EUR 75 million equity in Africa Internet Group, operator of Jumia, Easy Taxi, Lamudi, Carmudi, HelloFood, Kaymu and Jovago.
- Acted as Legal counsel in Egypt to ALSTOM on the acquisition made by General Electric of the power and grid businesses of ALSTOM with a total value of approx. USD 13.9 billion.
- Advised Zircodata Information Holdings Proprietary Limited on its acquisition of E-File in Egypt.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to TCL with respect to its assembly/distribution agreements with Elaraby Group.
BANKING & FINANCE:
- Acted as Legal Counsel to VEB.RF with respect to a EUR 1,016,050,000 facility made available to the Government of Egypt.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to Ansan Wikfs Limited on a Medium-Term Loan of USD 72 million by Arab African Int. Bank.
- Acted as legal counsel to London Institute for Banking & Finance with respect to two (2) different MoUs with both the Central of Egypt and the Financial Regulatory Authority.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to Agence Française De Développement, a leading governmental international fund, on a USD 175 million facility made available to the Arab Republic of Egypt for the purpose of supporting the State’s Public Budget.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to Proparco, a leading governmental international fund, on providing Tier 2 loans to CBK-registered banks.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to Bank of America with respect to the legal framework of its Egypt-related operation.
- Acted as Legal Counsel in Egypt to Fluidra S.A. with respect to the legal framework under Egyptian to distribute the dividends of its Egyptian subsidiary in foreign currency and the available legal options to secure that foreign currency from outside of the banking system.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to Minerva with respect to the collaterals available under Egyptian law.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to currency.com with respect to the legal framework of making its services available to users in Egypt.
PROJECTS:
- Acted as Legal Counsel in Egypt to GE Healthcare with respect to the inauguration of its first regional ultrasound manufacturing facility in Egypt.
- Acted as Legal counsel to Armatec Environmental Ltd on the implementation of two gas scrubbers in Egypt and all EPC-related contracts.
- Acted as Legal counsel to Fluor Corporation on a phosphoric acid production project and on all EPC-related contracts.
- Acted as legal counsel to General Electric in implementing the 1st ever decarbonization project with the Egyptian Government.
- Acted as legal counsel to FOTON Motors with respect to a joint venture project with the Government of Egypt for construction of Egypt’s first ever plant for manufacturing electric buses.
- Acting as Legal Counsel to Mott MacDonald with respect to several major projects in Egypt.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to General Electric on the construction of a 50-MW Solar Energy Plant in the Benban complex, Aswan, the largest photovoltaic power station in the Middle East and Africa.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to Honeywell with respect to the implementation of several mega projects in Egypt including for example the technology infrastructure of the New Administrative Capital and Prisons' Security Systems.
- Acted as legal counsel to Arizona State University with respect to the collaboration agreement made with Galala University to offer the first dual-degree programs between an American public university and an Egyptian public university.
- Supported Arizona State University with respect to a Memorandum of Understanding made with the Ministry of Investment and Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia for establishing a common framework for cooperation to develop a new university and K-12 school in Riyadh.
- Acts as Legal counsel to Wabtec with respect to supplying Egyptian National Railways (ENR) with 100 ES30ACi Evolution Series Locomotives, supporting ENR’s continued modernization effort by providing the latest, fuel-efficient locomotives needed for the growing demands on Egypt’s rail infrastructure.
- Acts as Legal counsel to MAPEI with respect to developing its 1st ever construction chemical manufacturing plant in Egypt.
- Acted as Legal Counsel in Egypt to L3 Technologies on a major public procurement transaction with the Egyptian Ministry of Defense.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to BRF, one of the largest multinational food companies with respect to a public procurement transaction valued at USD 250+ million with a government authority in Egypt.
TELECOMS, MEDIA & TECHNOLOGY:
- Acted as local legal counsel to IBM on obtaining the first ever WAN license in Egypt.
- Advised Huawei on a major project involving using VoIP in Egypt.
- Acted as legal counsel to Promethean World on an agreement with the Egyptian Ministry of Education with respect to the provision, licensing and data protection of the first online education platform in Egypt, Edmodo.
- Acted as legal counsel to General Electric against the Egyptian General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) with respect to a blacklisting decree and secured a final judgement in favor of one of ALSTOM’s former subsidiaries.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to Africa Crest Education with respect to (i) the acquisition of two plots of land in the New Administrative Capital and Al-Bourouj; (ii) construction of two (2) different schools in Egypt using Cadmus International Schools; (iii) structuring its business in Egypt; and (iv) all day-to-day operations in Egypt.

DISPUTES:
- Acting as Legal Counsel to the major shareholder of Alexandria Healthcare Group with respect to a major corporate dispute against Tana Africa Capital involving a complex arbitration case at ICC in London.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to General Electric with respect to a corporate dispute with a local/non-GE shareholder concerning the operation of Alstom Water Systems in Egypt where we managed to secure a judgement in favor of General Electric.
- Advised Adidas on a major corporate dispute with respect to dividends distribution.
- Acted as Legal Counsel to Marryat & Scott with respect to a major corporate dispute where we managed to force the counterparty to reach an amicable settlement after almost 5 years of having a deadlock.
- Acting as Legal Counsel to Straumann Group with respect to the recovery of a debt from a former distributor in Egypt.
